Clinton: Sanders Would ‘End All Kinds of Healthcare We Know’

Hillary Clinton is doubling down on her attacks on rival presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’s healthcare plan, warning that he would “end all kinds of healthcare we know.”

“The bulk of what he is advocating for is a single-payer healthcare system, which would probably cost about $15 trillion,” Clinton said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show.”

“It’s a bit concerning to me because it would basically end all the kinds of healthcare we know: Medicare, Medicaid, the CHIP program, children’s health insurance, Tricare for the National Guard, military, Affordable Care Act exchange policies, employer-based policies. It would take all that and hand it over to the states.”

She went on to add that Sanders’s plan, dubbed “Medicare for all,” would force the federal government to pay 86 percent of that cost with the rest for the states. Clinton doubted that Republican governors would be willing to pay that cost.

“That’s not Medicare for all,” Clinton added. “Medicare for all is a very different model.”
