The USDA which gave us unappetizing school lunches has gone one step further. They’ve adopted Cass Sunstein’s “nudge” philosophy and plan to use talking shopping carts to ‘nudge’ Americans into selecting healthy foods in the supermarket.
Nudge now, mandate later.
An 80-page report released this month by USDA is aimed specifically at Food Stamp recipients but it will affect everyone, especially in the price of food. The report came up with loon ideas like using talking shopping carts and improved lighting in the healthy food sections of your grocery store.
The report said that Americans don’t purchase enough whole grains, dark green and orange vegetables, and legumes, and purchase too many items with excess calories from fats and added sugars. They think they have the right to ‘nudge’ us into doing what they believe is healthy.
Now that the government is in charge of our healthcare, there will be no limits to what they will do. People should be very concerned about where this is leading.
The government wants to completely re-arrange grocery stores at great expense. The government operates outside the will of the people now.
They want Food Stamp – SNAP recipients – to receive “SNAP-Ed cooking classes”.
“In this approach, the supermarket is the classroom and shoppers receive support on how to maximize their healthy choices using products retailers promote via the weekly store circular,” the report said.
