President Obama has sent Ambassador Samantha Power, the mother of two young children, to West Africa, where she’ll visit the three countries hardest hit by the Ebola epidemic.
Her first stop was Guinea on Sunday.
Before leaving, she criticized the mandatory quarantines ordered by the governors of four states for returning health care workers.
Although Power works at U.N. headquarters in New York, her family is in Washington, and that’s where her journey began on Saturday.
Even if she doesn’t fall under a mandatory quarantine order, will she isolate herself from her own family voluntarily for 21 days when she returns?
