A new book sheds new light on how Chief Justice John Roberts saved President Obama’s health care law.
In The Oath: The Obama White House and the Supreme Court, author Jeffrey Toobin says the four other conservative justices alienated Roberts by pushing to scrap the entire law along with the requirement that nearly all Americans buy some form of health insurance or pay a fine.
Robert also had problems with the so-called individual mandate, but wanted to preserve other parts of the plan.
