Sliced apples recalled for possible listeria sold at fast food chains, grocery stores

applesReady Pac Foods Inc. is recalling apple slices and pieces that were sold at  fast food chains including McDonald’s and Burger King, as well as at  supermarkets and convenience stores, because of possible listeria  contamination.

The Irwindale, Calif.,-based company says it’s recalling 293,488 cases and  296,224 individually distributed units of fruit, vegetable, and sandwich  products containing its apples. The products were sold in 36 states and the  District of Columbia.

At McDonald’s Corp., the apples were used for the company’s sliced apple  packs, fruit & maple oatmeal and fruit & walnut snack trays in select  states.
